Notwithstanding the indecision around Isak’s leaving, he has not been allowed to play for Newcastle.
Newcastle are aware that the Liverpool bound striker has been working separately from the Eddie Howe’s team that he has made his move with the potential Merseyside destination in mind.
They may be expected to come back with another offer in what’s turning into a protracted transfer saga.
On top of the speculation, Isak aggravated the situation earlier this week with a message on social media where he charged Newcastle with going back on their word to let him leave the club this transfer window.
He only has three years remaining on his current deal but his commitment to Liverpool has led to a stand-off with the Magpies hierarchy.
Jon Dahl Tomasson, who coaches Sweden, has nevertheless picked the Jesper Lindstrøm and Isak as the squad for the qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo that are coming up.
“I am very happy that Alexander Isak wants to be with the team”, said Tomasson. “His situation is not excellent and he has not done the training, but he is a player who can decide games. The World Cup is very important for him and for us.”
