The Palestinian Higher Education Ministry reported on Saturday that an Israeli air strike, targeting the town of Al-Faluja, located 30 km (18 miles) northeast of Gaza City, resulted in the tragic death of the prominent Palestinian scientist Sufyan Tayeh and his family.
Sufyan Tayeh, serving as the president of the Islamic University of Gaza, was widely recognized as a leading researcher in physics and applied mathematics.
The Gaza health ministry disclosed that a total of 193 Palestinians have lost their lives since the expiration of the truce, further contributing to the overall death toll of more than 15,000 Gazans reported by Palestinian health authorities.
Israel asserts its commitment to minimizing civilian casualties as the conflict intensifies in the southern regions. Addressing the media in Tel Aviv on Saturday, a senior adviser to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that humanitarian groups were informed about the designated “safer areas.”
