The Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organised Crime and Terrorism has received a criminal complaint against legendary Belgian actor Jean-Claude Van Damme, alleging that he had sex with trafficked Romanian women.
The 64-year-old actor was reportedly “given” five women connected to a criminal organisation run by Romanian businessman and modelling agency owner Morel Bolea while he was in Cannes more than ten years ago, according to the Romanian newspaper Libertatea.
Van Damme allegedly became intimate with the ladies even though he knew they were trafficked, according to the complaint.
One of the alleged victims’ lawyer, Adrian Cuculis, disclosed that the accusations came to light during a broader probe into human and child trafficking that started in 2020.
“Several Romanians currently under investigation for forming a criminal group and pimping allegedly provided Jean-Claude Van Damme with five Romanian photo models for s£xual relations,” Cuculis told Romanian news station Antena 3.
According to Article 182 of the Romanian Criminal Code, which addresses human trafficking, the ladies were deemed vulnerable and may have been exploited.
Jean-Claude Van Damme, a Belgian martial artist turned actor, rose to prominence with 1988’s “Bloodsport”.
Since then, he has starred in more than 80 movies, such as “Kickboxer,” “Double Impact,” “Double Team,” and “The Expendables 2.”
Van Damme most recently voiced roles in 2022’s “Minions: Rise of Gru” and the upcoming 2025 feature “The Gardener.”
