Chelsea forward Joao Pedro after the tough 1-0 victory over Tottenham in the Premier League on Saturday, said that he felt relief after breaking his goal drought but highlighted that the team’s success is still his priority.

The Brazilian was the one to score in the 34th minute after Moises Caicedo took the ball off Micky van de Ven at the edge of the area and then made an unselfish move by setting up Pedro who just had to tap the ball in from a very close range. It was only the first time Pedro found the net since August, and it was the only goal that made Chelsea return home with three points for their fifth consecutive win against their London rivals.

“I really needed this goal because it had been such a long time since I scored,” Pedro said. “I always want to support my team with goals and assists, but first, I have to play well. If I play well, the goals will come. The important thing is winning games.”

The 24-year-old was close to scoring the second but was denied brilliantly by Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario; however, Pedro remained positive and completely focused on helping chelsea to silverware at the end of the season.

“If I don’t shoot, I make space for others to do it. I play for the team – if we win, I’m happy,” he added.

After that, Chelsea are set to play Qarabag in Azerbaijan on Wednesday for the much-awaited Champions League ‍‌‍‍‌fixture.
