Renowned Ghanaian actor John Dumelo has won the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election. He defeated the incumbent Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress in the general elections conducted last Saturday, December 7, 2024.
Dumelo won with a whopping 40,561 votes against Alhassan’s 27,377, marking a major political milestone in his career. This victory comes after his close loss to Alhassan in the 2020 elections, proving his determination and growing support.
The actor, who began his acting career in 1991, has long been a household name in both Gollywood and Nollywood. With his win, Dumelo now adds politics to his list of achievements, signaling a new chapter as he prepares to serve his constituents.
