Valencia Captain, Luis Gaya has disclosed that Algerian Sofiane Feghouli is his favorite African player.

This is exactly not what fans would have expected from him, as he choose Feghouli over world-class African players like Mohamed Salah, and Sadio Mane.

Feghouli and Gaya were both teammates in Valencia,

According to Gaya,  they played together at Valencia for a few years, he described Feghouli as very skillful and technical, and whenever he’s asked about his best African player, Feghouli comes to mind.

“You make me think a little bit about this one…I think Sofiane Feghouli from Algeria.”

“I played with him here at Valencia for a few years, he is very skillful and technical and difficult to come up against in training,” Gaya continued in praise of his former teammate.

“Also Feghouli comes to mind, as I mentioned before he was a very good player, the best I have seen,” Gaya said, placing his ex-teammate ahead of top African stars like Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, etc.

Gaya who made his first debut for Valencia in 2012, has remained in the club since joined the club, Whole Feghouli who joined the club in 2010 played for six years before transferring to West Ham.
