The Kano State Police Command had on Monday has urged members of the public to avoid panicking, as the offivers of 52 Police Mobile Force Squadron, Challawa Kano, will be conducting a two-day shooting range practice at Hawan Kalibawa in Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of the state from 6 am to 6 pm daily on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.
To this end, the spokesman for the state police command, SP Abdbdullahi Haruna, had in a press statement, counselled members of the public, particularly those living in the vicinity of Dambazau, Gangaren Dutse, Tumfafi, Kakurum and Dandalama villages in Dawakin Tofa and Ungogo LGAs and environs to stay away from the area and not to be alarmed at the sound of shootings until the exercise is over.
The statement released had read:
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, expressed his appreciation to the good people of Kano State for their understanding, prayers, continuous support and cooperation.”
This warning has been issued before in September 2023, when the Kano State Police Command cautioned residents within the vicinity of the Customs Training College, Goron Dutse to avoid panicking over the sound of gunshots that would be heard in the next couple of days.
For the last year’s shooting practice, the spokesman for the Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, explained that the training college was organising a seven-day shooting range practice.
