Ahmed Abdu Usman has been appointed as the 23rd controller by the Nigerian Correctional Service’s Katsina State Command.

According to information, CC Muhammad Haruna, the outgoing Controller of Corrections, has been moved to assume command of the Jigawa State Command.

Speaking on Tuesday at the NCoS State Headquarters in Katsina during the transfer ceremony, CC Haruna expressed his gratitude to the command staff for their assistance and collaboration during his tenure. He asked them to do the same for his heir.

According to ASC Najib Kunduru, Public Relations Officer of the Katsina State Command, The recently released posting by the Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Haliru Nababa FICMC MFR, mni, has brought in Controller Ahmed Abdu Usman as the 23rd Controller of Corrections in the ‘State of Hospitality’.

The handover took held at the Katsina State Headquarters Office.

“The incoming Controller of Corrections, Ahmed Abdu Usman, is a seasoned and experienced officer who has worked in a variety of capacities within the agency.

Prior to his assignment to Katsina Command, CC Ahmed was the Controller of Corrections in Adamawa State.

In order to fulfil his mandate to the service, the new Controller pledged to build on the accomplishments of his predecessor and sought the cooperation and support of the entire staff.

Bottom Line

The appointment of Ahmed Abdu Usman as the new controller of the Katsina State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) is significant for continuity and leadership in an important security institution. Given Katsina’s security challenges, including issues related to banditry and insurgency in the broader region, the role of the correctional service in maintaining law and order is crucial.

Usman’s extensive experience, having served as the Controller of Corrections in Adamawa State, positions him well to handle the complex demands of his new post.

His pledge to build on his predecessor’s achievements suggests a commitment to sustaining and improving the operational effectiveness of the command.

It’s also important that he seeks the cooperation of his staff, as teamwork and unity within the correctional service are vital for ensuring the proper management of correctional facilities and rehabilitating offenders.
