The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, CITN, has announced that media knowledge of taxation and its working will greatly boost economic growth and development.
This was revealed at the third edition of the CITN’s press briefing and workshop for tax/finance reporters recently in Lagos.
Additionally, Prof. Godwin Oyedokun, the chairman of, the publicity and publications committee, FCTI in his welcome address, had observed that journalists needed to understand what taxation and its workings meant in the growth and development of the nation’s economy.
Oyedokun, who was also a Professor of Accounting & Financial Development at Leed City University, Ibadan had also noted that while it was important to tax its citizens, the government should not tax businesses to death too.
