Dino Melaye, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the Kogi governorship election, has suffered defeat at his local government to Ahmed Ododo of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Note that Melaye hails from Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The result was announced by the LG Returning officer, Dr Samuel Obasan showing that APC had won the local government area with 10,524 votes followed by PDP with a total of 6,909 votes. ADC had meanwhile come third with 1,898 votes and the SDP had followed suit with a distant 356 votes.
Meanwhile, Melaye had on Saturday, alleged that the result sheets had been previously filled before it was brought in the Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area of the North Central state.
He had also called for the postponement of the exercise over reported violence and vote buying.
INEC had concurrently suspended election in nine wards in the local government area.
