Incensed youths in Kogi State had on Wednesday, unleashed their anger on the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party -NNPP, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso. The angry youths had pelted the presidential aspirant with sachets of water, also called ‘pure water (in the Nigerian lingo) oranges, and stones.

Kwankwaso and his campaign team had arrived in Lokoja, Kogi’s capital, to launch the party’s secretariat and his campaign offices when the indigenes fell on him and his entourage.

According to an eyewitness, the youths who had gotten information about Kwankwaso’s visit to the state had gone and mobilized fellow youths, after which they stormed a popular hotel where Kwankwaso was meant to address his supporters. The youths had then invaded the venue and proceeded to hurl sachet water and other items at the former Kano State governor and the party officials.

The aggrieved youths are alleged to be annoyed with Kwankwaso for purportedly hiding under the political platform of former Kogi Governor Abubakar Audu and wooing members of the All-Progressives Congress -APC, in the state after he was said to have previously visited the late Audu’s country home at Ogbonicha.

One of Kwankwaso’s media aides, Musa Yunusa, who confirmed the incident, stated the action of the youths was normal in politics while saying that Kogi was home to Kwankwaso and the NNPP
