After wrapping up last year with her collaboration ‘No Time’ featuring the renowned producer Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins, 19-year-old Nigerian R&B and Afrobeats star Konstance has released her latest single, ‘My Heart’.
Dropped on June 28 under Bankulli Entertainment, the label of Beyonce and Kanye West collaborator Bankulli, ‘My Heart’ offers the first glimpse of Konstance’s eagerly awaited debut EP, ‘In The Beginning’.
Co-written and composed by Konstance and Afrobeats artist Majeeed, who also provides guest vocals, ‘My Heart’ is a mesmerizing blend of R&B and Afrobeats. The track’s poignant lyrics and evocative songwriting vividly portray the essence of young love and the emotional yearnings of hopeless romantics.
Singing in English, Pidgin, and Yoruba, Konstance and Majeeed display impressive chemistry in ‘My Heart’. The 19-year-old Konstance demonstrates artistry beyond her years, while Majeeed reinforces his status as one of Afrobeats’ finest new voices.
The single is accompanied by a music video directed by Bushboy Machiavelli, known for his work with Ayra Starr, Bella Shmurda, and Oxlade. Filmed in Lagos, the video complements the song’s theme of young love, enhancing the track’s appeal.
Since her debut last year with the breakout single ‘Melo’, Konstance’s rise has been remarkable. She won the Breakthrough Talent prize at the 2023 Silverbird Awards and has received endorsements from industry giants like Don Jazzy, Tiwa Savage, and Kizz Daniel.
Her collaboration with Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins was featured in the 2023 movie-musical ‘The Color Purple’, and she has been cast in Idris Elba’s upcoming film ‘Dust To Dream’, alongside British pop star Seal.
