Protesters have refused to occupy the designated Gani Fawenhimi Freedom Park and Peace Park in the Ojota region, blocking the Ikorodu Road and chanting anti-Tinubu slogans.
Despite the state Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade’s call to vacate, protesters remained adamant, citing a desire to occupy the road because the parks are unsuitable for protests.
The protesters marched from Ikeja to Ojota, accused the police of threatening to use force because they refused to use the designated park while singing solidarity slogans.
Fayoade, on the other hand, urged with the remain calm to remain calm and avoid violence.
Freedom Of Expression
Protests are fundamental part of democratic expression, and choosing where to protest can be part of that expression.
The protesters’ decision to occupy the road rather than the park indicates a preference for a more direct and impactful form of protest.
