The Kwara State Government is geared to provide relevant allowances to support the state public workers to minimise the effects of fuel subsidy removal by the Federal government.
This is coming in as an addition to the recently approved workday reduction for its civil servants from five to three days.
A statement released by the Chief Press Secretary to the state Head of Service, Murtala Atoyebi in Ilorin on Wednesday, June 7, had revealed that the state government had plans to provide help for workers that could not be covered by the workday reduction owing to the uncanny nature of their official duties.
The statement read partly:
“To this end, the government is making plans to provide appropriate allowances to assist these categories of workers as a temporary measure, until conclusions are made on the review of minimum wage.”
