A 400 level female student of the Kwara State University, who has been identified as Rashidat Shittu, has allegedly committed suicide.
Shittu reportedly took her own life on Saturday, February 10 by drinking a chemical suspected to be Sniper in her hostel room.
Some sources in the university remarked that the student took her own life due to poor academic performance.
Rashidat was unfortunately, confirmed dead on arrival at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, UITH, where she was rushed to, for quick medical attention.
Newsmen had however, found that the deceased, a final year student in the institution, had complained about her poor academic performance which led to her taking the tragic action.
She was buried at the Muslim Cemetery, Osere , Ilorin metropolis, by her family members and staff of the university, accoridng to her religion.
Dr Saeedat Aliyu, the Spokesperson of the institution was not immediately reached as at the time of filing this report.
