Kylian Mbappé has finished his nearly 20-year association with Nike and signed with Swiss sportswear brand, On.
It was reported that the dual caps player, who joined Nike as a child, did not consider extension of contract with the American giant as part of him wanted a fresh phase in life for his career.
On on Friday made the collaboration known, stating Mbappé would be developing high-performance football shoes and clothing for the brand.
“Nike has been an important supporter for me over the past 20 years and of course it has been an important period for me in so many ways, ” Mbappé said while talking to CNBC.
“But, at a certain point of your life, you start to reflect differently and think differently about who you are as a human being first before your profession.” He continued.
On was set up in 2010 and is renowned for its running and tennis gear though this venture with Mbappé highlights their major move into the world of football.
In this football drive the company was also going to have former France star Thierry Henry as Director of Football.
