The Lagos State Government’s Mushin Fresh Food Agro-Hub has made a significant impact in its first year of operation, generating N2.495 billion in transactions facilitated by 348 vendors. This shows the hub’s effectiveness in revolutionizing food accessibility and affordability in the state.
The hub, established in 2023, has become a catalyst for change in food distribution management in Lagos, ensuring fair pricing, reducing post-harvest losses, and creating a more efficient supply chain. With 75,000 people visiting during 81 market days, the hub has improved the lives of sellers, made food easier to get, created jobs, and contributed to the economic growth of the community.
Beyond Mushin, the hub helps grow the state’s economy by connecting farmers in rural areas with people in cities who want their products. The Agriculture and Food Systems Commissioner, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, highlighted the hub’s potential to streamline food supply chains, enhance food security, and provide job opportunities.
The Mushin Fresh Food Agro-Hub is part of the Lagos State Government efforts to make sure people have enough food and economic empowerment for residents. Other projects, like the Lagos Logistics Hub in Epe and more fresh food hubs, are also being built to help with food security across the state.
