Lagos State Egbin Power Plant Workers Hold Protest Against Poor Salaries

The workers of the Egbin Power Plant in Lagos State on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, have begun peaceful protest against the dismal working conditions and welfare packages in the company, while also accusing the management of purposely making life difficult for them.

The aggrieved workers had carried placards with different inscriptions saying: ‘Enough is enough. We need good salary structure’, ‘Give us the condition of service,’ ‘We can’t continue to be a slave in our country.’

This strike action, however, won’t be the first among workers at the power plant as on November 16, 2020, reports had documented the workers protesting over their welfare issues.

Egbin Power Plc is the biggest power generating station in Nigeria with an installed capacity of 1,320 megawatts that consists of six units each.\
