Lagos State Government Halts Construction Activities on Banana Island
After the collapse of a seven-story building under construction on First Avenue, in the Banana Island area, Lagos State, the state government has directed all development projects in the highbrow area to be placed on hold.
Additionally, the state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, had in a statement on Thursday, April 13 said the process was to ensure that a comprehensive audit was done by officials of the Lagos State Building Control Agency.
Omotosho had also explained that the directive was to enable the government to find out the number of buildings being constructed without approval in the highbrow area and to know if all the approved buildings were being constructed in line with the approval limits provided.
