Fed-up residents in Ondo state have barricaded the Benin-Ore Highway in the state in a protest to register their displeasure over the scarcity of naira notes and fuel scarcity that has had the country in a tight grip.
The protest had led to traffic gridlock and had left vehicles plying the road stranded.
Some of the protesters had attributed their actions to the daily frustrations they have been facing both in the banks and filling stations.
This protest is coming not more than 24 hours after the Ondo State Police Command cautioned residents against staging protests.
As of the time of filing this report, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Oyeyemi Oyediran, who had prior given out the warning had yet to make a statement on the recent protest.
