French President Emmanuel Macron has denied having a domestic dispute with his wife, Brigitte Macron, after a video surfaced showing what some described as her pushing his face away. The incident took place as the couple arrived in Vietnam on a diplomatic trip.

Macron told reporters in Hanoi, “We were joking as we often do.” He added that people had also misinterpreted other videos, including one claiming he shared a bag of cocaine or had a face-off with Turkish President Recep Erdoğan. “None of these are true,” he said. “Everyone needs to calm down.”

Presidency Confirms Video But Rejects Misinterpretation

The video, which first caused confusion online, was confirmed as genuine after initial denial. In it, Brigitte Macron appears to push her husband’s face aside, and later avoids taking his arm as they walked down the plane steps to meet Vietnamese officials. Her expression was hidden by the aircraft body, leaving room for speculation.

The French presidency called it a non-issue. A close source described the moment as a “harmless squabble.” Another aide told journalists, “It was a moment when the president and his wife were decompressing before the trip by joking around. No more was needed to feed the mills of the conspiracy theorists.”

France Blames Pro-Russian Accounts for Spreading Speculation

The presidency has blamed pro-Russian online accounts for fueling controversy, claiming the video was used to spread disinformation. The source insisted that the couple remain united and that the moment was personal and lighthearted.

Vietnam marks the first stop in President Macron’s week-long Southeast Asia tour, where he plans to position France as a stable partner compared to the U.S. and China. He is expected to visit Indonesia and Singapore next.

Macron Denies Domestic Dispute With Wife as Tour Continues

Despite the buzz online, Macron has been clear: there was no domestic dispute with his wife during their Vietnam arrival. The video has been acknowledged as real, but the French president insists it was simply a private joke caught on camera.
