A 26-year-old suspect who is accused of using charms to con the state’s Point of Sale (PoS) operators has been detained by the Anambra State police.
Tochukwu Ikenga, the state’s police spokesperson, revealed this in a statement on Thursday.
Chisom Nweke, the suspect who was detained on Thursday, is from Umuawulu, a town in the state’s Awka South Local Government Area.
According to the police, the guy has admitted to defrauding some PoS operators in Awka and other nearby areas by deploying charms.
According to the authorities, the suspect is a part of a criminal organization that specializes in crime.
According to preliminary investigations, the suspect who was apprehended cut plain white paper into money-sized pieces and gave them to the PoS operators for deposit.
Under the charm of the suspect, the PoS operators would take the simple white paper from the suspect as payment.
According to the police spokesperson, searches for further gang members are ongoing
