According to The Athletic, Manchester United have come to an agreement with Brentford to secure the services of Cameroon forward Bryan Mbeumo in a deal worth up to £71 million ($95.2 million).
Having already offered bids of £55 million and £62.5 million which were both rejected, United returned with a higher third offer that is in line with Brentford’s valuation: £65 million cash plus £6 million in add-ons.
Mbeumo was the one to decide to join United, and the 25-year-old only revealed this to the club before any personal terms were agreed weeks ago. Arsenal, Newcastle, and Tottenham have shown interest but withdrew it after learning of the player’s preference for Old Trafford.
Before Mbeumo gets the green light to be a United player, he must pass the medical test in the next few days; he will be the second senior signing under new manager Ruben Amorim, after the arrival of Matheus Cunha.
As for signing the youth players, United have signed Diego Léon and Enzo Kana-Biyik—the latter was then loaned out to INEOS-affiliated Lausanne-Sport.
Now that Mbeumo is joining in who can be included in the team’s attacking setup, the focus is on player exits. The Red Devils are reportedly open to selling Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, and Tyrell Malacia to balance the books following their summer outlay.
