Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson-Okojie has reassured fans about her health following the circulation of a video clip that sparked concerns online.

The viral footage, taken from an episode of her show Mercy’s Menu, featured a conversation with fellow actress Joke Silva, during which Mercy opened up about past health issues, including a thyroid surgery and a cancer scare. Her revelation, particularly about sudden weight loss and a neck swelling, led many viewers to believe she was currently battling cancer.

This misunderstanding prompted a wave of messages and prayers from fans who feared the worst.

In response, Mercy shared a video on her Instagram page to clarify the situation. She emphasized that she is not suffering from cancer, explaining that although doctors initially suspected a tumour in her thyroid might be cancerous, it was ultimately diagnosed as benign.

“Thank you to everyone who called and sent prayers,” she said. “But I do not have cancer. The clip making the rounds was edited. I said I had a cancer scare, not that I have cancer.”

She further explained that the visible scar on her neck was from surgery related to thyroid issues and stressed that she is doing well.

“I’m perfectly okay,” she added. “Thank you so much for the concern, but I’m fine.”
