Nollywood actress Moji Afolayan has broken her silence on why she stayed away from the movie scene for over a decade, revealing that she was intentionally excluded by film marketers after turning down their sexual propositions.

Her extended absence had stirred curiosity among fans and colleagues alike, but during a revealing chat on Oyinmomo TV, the veteran actress gave clarity, stating that her refusal to compromise her integrity came at a great personal and professional cost.

“Before now, marketers used to give producers money to work. But because I refused their sexual advances, they held a meeting among themselves and agreed not to call me for work,” she recalled.

Moji explained that this collective decision led to her missing out on roles and financial opportunities, but she chose to stay true to her values.

“I did not sleep with any of them because I can’t trade my body for films. It’s my principle. I know they will watch this interview. Many of those doing it will go with their husbands and have them wait outside while they go inside to meet marketers. I’m exposing their secrets now,” she added.

The actress also pointed out that some of her peers gained popularity through such arrangements, receiving massive backing from marketers who promoted them aggressively.

“Marketers made them stars. Their posters were all around. But I thank God that I stood with my dignity. That is what I am enjoying today. They denied me movie roles because I didn’t offer myself for sex. Although it affected my income and fame, but I cherish my body more than every other thing. Even my husband knows,” she said.

Moji expressed relief over the rise of digital platforms, which she believes has shifted control away from marketers and back into the hands of content creators.

“They now know how it feels because they have made us social media friendly. We now pushed our movies on YouTube without any marketers,” she concluded.
