When a teacher accidentally locks lips with a colleague, it activates the family curse: each night at midnight she transforms into a dog and doesn’t return to her human form till morning. The only way to break the spell is to be kissed in her dog form – but the very man who needs to the job is terrified of dogs.
The title of the movie itself identifies it to be one of those k-drama fantasies. At first I wanted to skip it and pick another movie but having Cha Eun-Won (Jin Seo-won) as the main lead was tempting enough, so I dived into the first chapter.
The movie starts with the female lead Park Kyu-Young (Han Hae-na) breaking up from yet another relationship because she can’t kiss her boyfriend. It seems awkward to be celebrating a year anniversary with a boyfriend one has never kissed before, but running away from the boyfriend because you don’t want to be kiss (Smh).
Moving on, she isn’t that heartbroken from her break up, it’s more like she had expected that. Then we were shown a throwback of two young girls with a dog which happened to be Han Hae-na and her sister with their uncle who had permanently turned into a dog, stating the reason they can’t kiss anybody.
Han Hae-na is popularly known by the students as the ‘BUKC’ Breaking up kissing couple because she constantly breaks up kissing couples. . She teaches at Garam High School and has a crush on a teacher named Mr Lee Bo-Kyum who teachers History in the school, and believes Mr Jin Seo-Won who teaches maths hates her.
After the school day Bo-Kyum invites Hae-na and her colleague for drinks and barbecue. On the way to their get together, they passed through a dog shelter and she learnt that Lee Bo-kyum loves dog which intensify her crush for him while Seo-Won awkwardly stays away from the dogs.
They are later join by Miss Han whom takes extra care with her dressings. She probably has a crush on one of the male teachers. She served them alcohol and soon they were conversing before Hae-na received a message from a friend that her ex-boyfriend is getting married to her friend. Sadly, she drowns the alcohol like water. Her colleague (Ji-a) who knows about her crush on Mr. Lee decided to help her with her crush. She ask Mr. Lee what type of woman he likes, and he says a woman who is courageous to tell him about her feelings.
It gave Hae-na the courage she needs to approach him. She is drunk and decided to take the initiative at once, but she ends up kissing the wrong person because the teachers had changed jackets due to reasons not told. Immediately, she runs away looking for a desolate place to turn into a dog.
After changing into a dog, Hae na finds her way home, surprising her sister Yu-na and friend, Woo-taek as she has never changed into a dog unlike her sister.
Another flashback shows her sister turning into a dog after kissing a boy to prove their family curse. Her mother forced the boy to kiss her back in her dog form to change into a human back.
Yu-na explains their family curse to her friend, Woo-taek. Hae-na will change into a dog everyday from 12am – 6am (more like Dogrella) for the next 100 days and she’s unable to break the curse by kissing the person she kissed again in her dog form, she will forever remain a dog like their uncle.
The next day Hae-na is back in her human form and seen apologizing to Seo-won. She approaches him in different way trying to get him to dine with her. He refuses numerous times, and then suddenly accepts her proposal. All plans are going perfectly for Hae-na; all she needs to do is kiss him in her dog form. She asks if he likes dog and he answers affirmatively; he likes eating them.
Once it is 12am, she runs to an alley, makes a call to Seo-won and ask him to meet her at the alley. Seo-won came only to see a cute little puppy, instantly, he jumps on the closest trash can avoiding the puppy with all his might.
General Review
I’m excited about the beginning of this movie. Our main actress isn’t Cinderella but Dogrella and our main actor refuses to kiss Dogrella. The relationship between them is awkward but the chemistry is faint. Looking forward to more of their relationship
I heard the movie is really great!
I’ll try watching it
