Streaming now on Omoni Oboli TV’s YouTube channel, When Forever Begins brings together familiar faces like Daniel Etim Effiong, Cynthia Clarke, Helen Samuel, Lizzy Akemu, and more. With such a cast lineup, I expected something emotionally gripping, but sadly, the film left me underwhelmed.
Plot & First Impressions
The story kicks off with an intriguing idea: the possibility of meeting a stranger and instantly feeling a deep connection—almost as if you had seen their face before in a dream. It reminded me of how rare and fleeting real dreams are, and how exciting it would be to actually recall them. Unfortunately, the film didn’t fully deliver on that imaginative setup.
Performances & Chemistry
One of the biggest letdowns for me was the lack of chemistry between the two leads. Oluchi, who I’ve admired in other projects, didn’t bring her best performance here. While she’s capable of carrying strong roles, this particular outing felt flat. Her interactions with Timini simply didn’t spark, leaving their supposed love story feeling unconvincing and rushed.
Even her styling choices—wardrobe and overall look—didn’t help her shine, which made it harder to connect with her character. On the other hand, the supporting cast gave solid performances, but they weren’t enough to rescue the movie from its shortcomings.
Storytelling & Pacing
The pacing of the film was another weak point. The storyline suggested a whirlwind romance, but the execution felt more like a forced rush into love. It’s hard to buy into a relationship where one character meets a total stranger and immediately falls head over heels. The only explanation I could piece together was that Oluchi’s character mistook gratitude for love, which unfortunately didn’t translate well on screen.
There was undeniable potential in the storyline, but it wasn’t fully explored. Instead, the movie skimmed the surface of what could have been a heartfelt romance, leaving it feeling incomplete and hurried.
Final Thoughts
While When Forever Begins may resonate with fans of straightforward, light romance plots, it didn’t strike a chord with me. I was hoping for more depth, stronger emotional weight, and chemistry that could make me root for the couple. Sadly, this wasn’t the case.
Rating: A miss for me.
