At around 10:am on Thursday, MTN Nigeria on-going network service was disrupted while protesters started their protest demanding good governance across the country. Subscribers were able to experience this problem with many of them taking to the social media platform X, which was previously referred to as tweeter, to complain or air their grievances.
As to the cause of the congestion, some users attributed it to the implications of the government actions to counter the protest through slowing down the flow of information flowing through the networks. Up to the time of preparing this report, MTN has not made a statement particularly addressing the issue.
The timing of the network issues has created controversy among the people of Nigeria, Most of who are engaged or support the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest.
With the current situation, subscribers are expecting early resolution of the network problems as well as better explanation from MTN about the reason of the slow network.
