MURIC Urges FG to Ban Portable’s New Song for Encouraging Ritual Killings.

The Muslim Rights Concern- MURIC, has criticized a song released by Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable.

The unwanted song titled ‘Kuku Do Ritual’ is according to MURIC, encouraging ritual killings among Nigerian youths.

MURIC’s statement on the issue was released on Monday, January 23, 2023, by its director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

The statement partly reads,

“We find this song appalling, detestable and egregious. It is a brazen assault on Nigerian and African values. Portable’s recent song likened human life to the level of ordinary ants that can be stamped out under human feet without qualms and any fear or consequence.

“The song is an open invitation to criminality and makes a mockery of law and order.

“We, therefore, urge the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, the National Film and Video Censors Board, NFVCB, the Nigerian Copyright Commission, NCC and the Performing Musicians’ Association of Nigeria, PMAN, to take the necessary actions with military dispatch and ban the song.”
