Habeeb Okikiola, often known as Portable, a controversial Nigerian artist, has revealed the motivation for his peculiar Instagram handle, “Elizabeth Joyce.”
In a conversation with Lagos-based content producer Egungun, the “Zaazu” hitmaker revealed the information.
Portable revealed that before rising to fame, he engaged in internet fraud, popularly known as “Yahoo.”
He made his first Instagram account under the name “Elizabeth Joyce” as part of his scheme to trick gullible people by utilising a picture of a white woman as his display profile.
The singer shared that after gaining fame, he took down the profile picture but decided to keep the name, which has since become part of his online identity.
He said, “Make I no lie for you e get one Facebook and Instagram wey be say that time I wanted to learn yahoo, yahoo no gree na so that’s why I opened the account there. That was when I heard they were looking for me that I’ve blown that’s why I went to edit it and removed the white woman on my profile picture, it’s a working account”.
