The bidding for the hosting of the 2025 AFCON has begun, with Nigeria, Ghana, and Benin Republic submitting a joint bid for the African Cup of Nations 2025.
The just concluded AFCON ( both men and Women) was hosted by Algeria and Morocco, so the Nigeria Football Federation is eager for the next AFCON to be hosted in Nigeria, Ghana and Benin republic have combined with Nigeria for the hosting rights
If we can recall, Guniea was given the hosting rights but it was rescinded due to a lack of funds to put the appropriate sports facilities in place.
Ghana’s Sports Minister, Mustapha Usif, has said that they were advised to bid alongside Nigeria and Ghana, though they have not considered it yet, it’s something that they might consider since they are all sister countries
“There’s a discussion that Ghana should bid with the likes of Nigeria and Benin. We are still considering it. We have not taken a decision yet but there is that discussion that we should get sister countries so that we can put in that bid,” Ghana’s sports minister, Mustapha Ussif was quoted by Kickgh.com.”
