It seems that Nigeria is about to miss out on Arsenal’s highly-rated youngster, Nwaneri as he was invited by England to join their U-17 squad for the UEFA European U-17 championship starting this week.
This information was confirmed by Arsenal in a statement on their website. This is a big blow for Nigeria since the 15-year-old player is eligible to represent Nigeria through his parents but it seems his Allegiance has been bought by England. This is an indicator that he might go down the same path as Bukayo Saka, his fellow Arsenal teammates who ditched Nigeria for The England national team.
If we can recall, Nwaneri made history in August as he became the youngest player to ever feature in the premier league after Arteta brought in the player in the final minutes of Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Brentford.
