Amotekun, the South-West security outfit, together with the Nigerian police and other security agencies have arrested not less than 38 suspected kidnappers and gunmen, who had been disturbing the peace in Ondo State.
Asides from Ondo State, the rate of kidnapping on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway had also been on the rise, with the latest incidents happening on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In Ekiti State, the Police Public Relations Officer, Sunday Abutu, had stated that the law enforcement agents had within the last two weeks, thoroughly combed the forests surrounding the expressway, to rid them of criminals.
The PPRO also noted that at least 10 suspects have been arrested by the police during the exercise.
Speaking with the PUNCH journalists, the Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, stated that the arrests were part of the ‘Operation Gbale Gbako’ commenced by Amotekun to eradicate the state of criminals.
