The Nigerian Meteorological Agency has forecasted haziness and sunshine to begin from Saturday to Monday, 25th December, 2023.
The weather outlook released by NiMet in Abuja had forecasted a moderate dust haze on Saturday with horizontal visibility of 2km and 5km over the northern region during this period.
The NiMet statement read: “A sunny sky in a hazy atmosphere is anticipated over the north-central cities and the inland cities of the south. A partly cloudy sky in a hazy atmosphere over the coastal belt of the country is also expected to be seen.”
The forecast also anticipated some prospects of localised thunderstorms over parts of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River states later today.
For Christmas Day, it explained that a moderate dust haze with horizontal visibility of 2km to 5km is anticipated over the North, the North central and the inland cities of the South during the predicted period.
A few cloud patches were also to be expected in hazy atmosphere over the coastal cities for the duration of the forecast period. The agency has urged the public to take needed precautions as dust particles would be suspended in the air on that day.
Individuals with asthma and other respiratory issues were warned to be cautious of the present weather situation. Additionally, airline operators were warned to get updated weather reports from NiMet for a successful planning in their operations.
