After reviewing their products, the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) announced that it will be selling petrol from Dangote Refinery at different rates depending on where you live in Nigeria, citing logistics involved as the reason for the difference.
On Monday, NNPCL spokesperson Olufemi Soneye revealed that petrol would sell for N950 per liter in Lagos, N999.22 in Abuja, Sokoto, Kano, and other locations, whereas in Borno it would cost N1,019.00 per liter, the highest price. In Oyo, Rivers, and other southern areas, petrol would sell for N960 per liter.
Currently, there is a pricing dispute between NNPCL and Dangote Refinery, who have argued over whether a sale really happened or not. Dangote Refinery refuted claims from NNPCL about purchasing banked gasoline from them at a price of N898.00, referring to it as “misleading and mischievous.”
Dangote Refinery clarified that its initial shipments were sold in dollars at a lower price than current import prices. The refinery assured Nigerians of quality petroleum products, ending fuel scarcity.
The company urged the public to await the official announcement by the Technical Sub-committee on Naira-based crude sales to local refineries, scheduled for October 1st, 2024.
