The gubernatorial candidate of New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in the last general elections in Ogun State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has made a plea to President Bola Tinubu, to consent to the N200,000 minimum wage for workers nationwide.
According to Oguntoyinbo, the increase in minimum wage was a necessary step, if one took into account, the present economic reality in the country.
The Chieftain had made the appeal known via a statement he released to news journalists on Saturday, June 24.
To this effect, he had tendered N200,000 as the minimum wage before President Tinubu, explaining that it was one of the best ways to reduce the plight of the workers in the country.
Ogunyoyibo had additionally said that his appeal was based on the present economic reality in the country.
This is not an outrageous request, and considering the reports that politicians salaries had allegedly been increased by 114%, it is only right that the non-elite workers in Nigeria get an increase in their salaries especially as they would mostly be the ones to experience the harsh side of the economic situation in the country.
Hopefully, President Tinubu will consider this request and approve of it.
