Are you one of those Nollywood fans complaining that the industry has relaxed in 2025? Do you feel like filmmakers have slowed down? Well, let’s clear the air. January was just a well-deserved break after Nollywood went all out in 2024, dropping films back-to-back till December.

But don’t worry, Nollywood never truly rests. The industry is already set to roll out exciting films for the love season. If you’re wondering what’s hitting the screens soon, here’s a lineup of must-watch movies coming to cinemas and streaming platforms this February.

Romantic Dramas Taking Over the Big Screen

Summer Rain


Murewa Abe and Admichi Amadi have been together for ten years, but their love is about to be tested like never before. Produced by Bolaji Ogunmola and directed by Adenike Adebayo–Esho, this romantic drama stars Lateef Adedimeji, Femi Branch, Tina Mba, Genoveva Umeh, and others. Catch Summer Rain in cinemas nationwide from February 7.

Love Lockdown


Produced by Uche Okocha under Trino Motion Pictures, Love Lockdown explores love and relationships against the backdrop of a global crisis. With Lyndsey F. Efejuku directing, the cast includes Andrew Bunting, Detola Jones, Yewande Osamien, Doris Okorie, and Obichi Marshall. This one hits cinemas on February 7.

Reel Love


Timini Egbuson steps into the role of executive producer for the first time with Reel Love, a film that weaves romance, tradition, and unexpected twists into an unforgettable story. Featuring Funke Akindele, Dakore Akande, and T.J. Omusuku, Reel Love premieres in cinemas on Valentine’s Day.

Streaming Releases to Watch Out For


Ada Omo Daddy


Pero (Omowumi Dada) is preparing for her wedding when a mysterious man (Charles Okafor) resurfaces, claiming a past connection that threatens to unravel everything. Featuring Sola Sobowale, Mercy Aigbe, Chiwetalu Agu, and Uche Ndubuisi, Ada Omo Daddy will be available for streaming on Netflix and Circuits from February 28.

Kabiyesi

Showmax’s epic drama series Kabiyesi follows Princess Aderiyife as she battles betrayal and political turmoil in her quest for power. Inspired by the reign of Orompoto, the only female Alaafin of Oyo, this historical drama stars Annetta Adebusuyi, Akin Lewis, and Amokun Ibrahim. The 10-episode series premieres on Showmax on February 20, with new episodes dropping every Friday.

The Most Toasted Girl (Season 2)

Lagos’ most relatable vlogger returns for another season of hustle, love, and Nollywood auditions. Directed by Bolaji Kekere-Ekun, The Most Toasted Girl stars Nengi Adoki, Zainab Balogun, Funmbi Toye, and Bryan Okoye. The new season starts streaming on Nengi Adoki’s YouTube channel in February.

Nollywood is Just Getting Started
So, is Nollywood slowing down? Not at all. This February alone, the industry is serving up romance, drama, fantasy, and even historical epics. With cinema releases, streaming premieres, and a new wave of storytelling, Nollywood is keeping audiences entertained. The love season is here, and Nigerian filmmakers are ready to deliver. If you thought Nollywood was taking a break, think again, this industry is only just warming up for 2025.
