The Nigerian movie industry has lost one of its brightest talents as renowned director and editor, Dimeji Ajibola passed in the wee hours of November 3, 2024. Ajibola was a man of creative storytelling and impactful productions. He had been battling an undisclosed illness for a while before giving up the ghost.
Ajibola made his mark in Nollywood with milestone projects, which include the acclaimed 2023 crime thriller series Shanty Town, a raw and gripping representation of life in Nigeria’s urban underworld. He was also the mastermind behind Hoodrush, a 2012 urban musical that won him several awards, including Best Movie at the Green Me Film Festival in Germany.
News of his death sent ripples across the industry. It was on that note that actor Bolanle Ninalowo took to his Instagram page to pay his last respects, referring to Ajibola as brother and champion while further showing deep condolences to the family and loved ones.
