The Northern Ethnic Youth Group Assembly, NEYGA, has released a statement announcing its withdrawal from the planned August 1st nationwide protest over the deplorable state of the nation.
The ethnic group had instead, urged the Nigerian youths and student bodies to give President Bola Tinubu more time to implement his much touted economic reforms.
The group, NEYGA, is made up of minority tribes in Northern Nigeria, and if admitted that the current challenges facing the country were as a result of ex-president Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
The group had said —while noting that it didn’t protest against Buhari’s administration– that it had realized that staging a demonstration now may jeopardize national unity.

A statement released by the spokesperson of NEYGA, Ibrahim Dan-Musa, on Sunday partly read;
“We appeal to other Arewa groups to acknowledge that Nigeria’s challenges are a shared responsibility.
“President Tinubu needs more time to implement his plans for the country. The ongoing reforms offer hope for a better future,” Dan-Musa said.
