The Northern communities in Imo State have promised to commit to peaceful coexistence with residents of the state.
The traditional ruler of the northern communities in Imo State, Alhaji Auwal Baba-Sulaiman, had made the pledge while talking with newsmen in Owerri, shortly after a cabinet meeting on Tuesday, August 1.
Baba-Sulaiman, had in a reaction to the allegation that the mayhem unleashed on settlers of three northern communities on July 27 to 28, had been carried out at the request of Governor Hope Uzodimma, stated that the northerners inhabiting the state have been enjoying the peace and cooperation of their host communities.
Recall that the Imo State government, in an attempt to purge the state of criminals, raided the forests in the state, demolishing shacks and shanties in different treacherous locations in Owerri and its environs.
Baba-Sulaiman nonetheless applauded the state government for its efforts at curbing criminality while elucidating that northerners in the state have never and will never be targets of attack by the government.
He had then gone on to warn fake news peddlers to stop spreading misinformation to the general public and to endeavour to substantiate the veracity of information before it was sent out for public consumption.
