Norway’s parliament had on Wednesday, received a bomb threat, prompting police officials to tighten security around the building, and to block off the streets nearby.
A parliament spokesperson had said that the public audience attending deliberations inside the building were urged to leave, while the members of parliament carried on with their normal business, including ministers’ question time itinerary.
A police spokesperson was quoted to have said:
“We are on the scene with several patrols to secure the parliament and prevent probable incidents. So far, we have no information that there is a threat to any third party.”
At the time of filing this report, armed police in riot gear were reported to be constructing metal barriers to block access to the building in central Oslo, where security is usually more discreet.
Note that the policemen in Norway do not usually carry guns.
