The Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, has blamed a lack of diesel as the cause for the delay of the Abuja-Kaduna train movement on Monday, January 23.
This was revealed in a statement released by Pascal Nnorli, Manager, Abuja-Kaduna Train Service (AKTS) while apologizing to the passengers for the unforeseen circumstance. In the statement, Nnorli explained that the delay was due to a shortage in the supply of diesel.
According to him, the AGO received was short of the required standard and had been outrightly rejected following a statutory laboratory test which is carried out on all liquid ‘used on the rolling stock, locomotives inclusive, to ensure that the right specifications are utilized.’
The statement then assured passengers that operations would return to normal because the management was on top of the situation.
Recall that the Abuja-Kaduna train service resumed on December 5, 2022, after an eight-month hiatus owing to a terrorist attack whereby passengers were abducted and some killed.
