Several hoodlums, had on Friday, October 13, ambushed Yobo village, Ewekoro Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The hoodlums had reportedly been armed with AK-47 and other dangerous weapons with the intent to attack the village.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun, Omolola Odutola, had released a statement revealing that the gunmen had stormed the house of Wakili Olalekan in Yobo village.
The Divisional Police Officer of Ibogun, had stated that he immediately acted on a distress call and dispatched his men to the scene and they successfully cordoned off the whole area.
Eight suspected hoodlums were apprehended in the process.
“They had planned to go to carry out an attack on the village but the superior intelligence of the police deflected their plans leading to their eventual arrest.” Odutola had said
A live AK-47 ammunition, two live cartridges, two knives, two charms, an unregistered green Mazda vehicle and one unregistered white Highlander had been recovered from the men.
Abiodun Alamutu, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, has meanwhile ordered for preliminary investigations be carried out. The suspects will meanwhile be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID for careful investigation.
