The Ogun State Police Command has started a search operation to recover the body of Francis Danjuma, a 32-year-old man whose father is a police officer. Francis reportedly drowned in the Ogun River. Danjuma, who lived in the Isheri Olofin community, left his house around 2:00 p.m. on June 12, 2024, to bathe in the river.

According to a police report obtained by PUNCH Online, the incident was reported by his father, Deputy Superintendent of Police Danjuma Shaibu, who resides at the Alausa Police Barracks in Lagos State. Shaibu reported that on June 12, 2024, around 2:00 p.m., his son Francis left home to bathe in the Ogun River and reportedly drowned. Despite extensive search efforts by family and local divers, Danjuma’s body has not yet been found. The state command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, told PUNCH Online that police at Ojodu-Abiodun have started investigating the incident and are working to recover the body.

She said, “Upon receiving the tragic news, detectives from the Ojodu-Abiodun division visited the scene and coordinated with local divers and the Olofin Council to search for the body.
“Efforts to locate the body are ongoing. We are also working to uncover the details leading to this unfortunate incident.”
