Mr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the President General of the Igbo apex socio-cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has threatened to drag the Federal Government to court for appointing just five ministers from the South-East.
The Ohaneze had said that the Federal Government had failed in its duty to be fair and just to the South-East regions by giving them more ministerial appointments like was seen in the other zones of the country in the Federal Executive Council, FEC.
Iwuanyanwu had made this disclosure during a press conference in Owerri, the Imo State capital city.
“It is highly unfair for the President to present the southeast with only five slots for ministerial appointments while all other zones on Nigeria can boast of 10 ministers,” he said.
The Ohanaeze leader had described the action as unfair and a contravention if the principles of federal character.
Finally, he appealed to the Federal Government to create additional states in the South-East to make it even with the other geo-political zones in the country as according to him, the inability of the government to establish an additional state in the region was causing a lot of underdevelopment and suffering in the South-East.
