Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, governor of Delta State and vice presidential candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed sympathy to the state police command and the families of the three police officers killed in Anambra State by unidentified gunmen.
Inspector Lucky Aleh, Inspector Celestine Nwadiokwu, and Inspector Jude Obuh were the three officers who worked in the Government House in Asaba’s Explosives Ordinance Disposal (EOD) Unit.
They were traveling to Umuahia on official business when they were ambushed and slain by gunmen around 1:30 pm on Friday along Ihiala-Orlu Road. The late officers’ services to the peace and development of Delta would be dearly missed, said Mr. Charles Aniagwu, the state’s commissioner for information, who yesterday briefed journalists on the tragic incident. He characterized the unfortunate officers’ deaths as brutal and intolerable in a nation attempting to reunite for peace.
He said that some of the tales of the terrible incident that were becoming viral on social media were incorrect, and he added that the state administration held off on reporting their untimely demise because efforts were being made to get in touch with their relatives.
He urged the nation’s security forces to find the murderers and prosecute them so that Nigerians could once again live in peace throughout the entire nation.
