Afrobeats star Stanley Omah Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has stressed that prayer alone cannot resolve Nigeria’s mounting challenges.

The singer argued that meaningful change will only come when citizens take proactive steps to address the country’s problems.

“No Jesus, no Allah, no prayer is saving us. Nothing changes until we wake TF up,” Omah Lay wrote on his X handle on Thursday.

His remarks come amid calls from both Christian and Islamic leaders urging Nigerians to pray in response to escalating insecurity and economic difficulties.

Several other celebrities, including Don Jazzy, Davido, Falz, and Mr Macaroni, have also reacted to recent crises, such as the terrorist attack on a church in Kwara State and the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, emphasizing the need for urgent government intervention.

On Wednesday, singer Yemi Alade weighed in on the debate over foreign assistance, asserting that “African problems need African solutions, not new problem.”

Omah Lay’s comments highlight a growing frustration among citizens and public figures who believe that active participation, rather than solely prayer, is essential for tackling Nigeria’s challenges.
