Victor Osimhen etched his name in Champions League history on Wednesday night as Galatasaray SK dramatically eliminated Juventus FC in the play-offs.
The Nigerian forward netted the winning goal in extra time to confirm a 7-5 aggregate win and also became the foreign player who has scored the most goals in European competitions for Galatasaray with 13. The player overtook Milan Baros, the Czech, earlier record holder with 12 goals.

Juventus, who had lost the first leg, came out strongly and at 37 minutes, a penalty by Manuel Locatelli gave them the lead. The Italian side showed great character despite going down to 10 men early in the second half after Lloyd Kelly was given a red card. The goals from Federico Gatti and Weston McKennie brought the tie to a level, thereby forcing extra time.
It was Osimhen, however, who was the hero, delivering the winning goal when he sent a low shot through Mattia Perin’s legs just before Baris Alper Yılmaz scored the third for Galatasaray to seal the place.
Osimhen, who has scored seven times in this season’s competition, was also awarded the man of the match as Galatasaray moved on to the Round of 16.
