Why The Bill Matters:

Passing the Disabilities Prohibition Bill promotes inclusion in the society by allowing persons with disabilities to access to essential services like health, education, and employment, just like their peers. Some of the benefits that PwD will gain from this are:

  • Equal Opportunities: This new law will ensure that individuals with disabilities will have access to equal opportunities to participate in society, contributing their skills and talents without fear of discrimination.
  • Promotes Human Rights: Enacting this legislation upholds the fundamental human rights of persons with disabilities, safeguarding their dignity and ensuring they are treated with respect and fairness.

Bottom Line:

Establishing a legal framework for protecting the rights of persons with disabilities is a strong message from the Osun State government that the residents well-being were a priority for the state and society as a whole. This bill should be emulated and passed in other states.
