Pastor Tayo Ayorinde – The lead pastor of the King City Believers Church (KCBC) situated in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria has reacted especially to the results of the presidential primaries of the two leading political parties in the country. The clergyman stressed via his official Facebook handle that the country has come to a point where the nation’s past and selfless heroes would not have won an election in present-day Nigeria.
The lead pastor of the KCBC congregation was very poetic and persuasive in making his point and stressing the need for us to get our priorities right as a nation. Speaking to the assembled congregation during a mid-week service, he explained that Party Delegates play a vital role in presenting prospective political office holders to the masses but are swayed by money and several other things that do not represent the interest of the Nigerian masses.
The pastor in his words said that “These great men will never win an election in today’s Nigeria…Think again about that and see if it doesn’t make you shudder…These Sages won’t win any election in today’s Nigeria…Because they weren’t rich with money”. He would go on to lament how the qualities that made these men stand out as our heroes are “now valueless stuff in today’s market”.
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was the frontrunner in deciding who their presidential flag bearer would be. Renowned politician – Atiku Abubakar, with the national honors of GCON (Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger), emerged as the winner. The All Progressive Party (APC) recently followed suit and Ahmed Tinubu emerged the winner by a wide margin.
